Building Afrilang, Thoughtfully
When we started Afrilang, the goal was clear: to build a platform that makes African languages accessible, practical, and culturally grounded for people everywhere.
Since then, we’ve been quietly working, refining the idea, shaping the product, and thinking deeply about what it really takes to build something like this well.
Afrilang is not just a language app. It sits at the intersection of culture, technology, and community. It is audio-led, rooted in real life communication, and designed to scale across languages, regions, and generations. That means every decision we make, from product design to content structure matters.
And that’s where we are now.
We’re entering a new phase: moving from concept and foundation into building. To do that well, we’re bringing on a Product Lead to help translate this vision into a working, thoughtful, and scalable product.
We’re looking for someone who understands that this is more than just shipping features. It’s about building with care, designing systems that respect language, working with audio and cultural nuance, and creating an experience that feels intuitive, useful, and grounded in real life.
This role is about:
- Structuring how Afrilang works as a product
- Thinking through how language, audio, and learning come together
- Helping us move from idea to something people can use, return to, and grow with
It’s also about helping us build responsibly with the right foundations in place for scale.
Over the coming months, we’ll be focused on shaping the first version of Afrilang, testing early experiences, and preparing for launch. There’s a lot ahead, and we’re being intentional about how we get there.
If you’ve been following along, thank you. And if you’re just joining us, welcome, we’re really glad you’re here.
If this role sounds like something you (or someone you know) would want to shape, you can find more details in the link below on how to apply.
